How to claim your child's Trump Account
Auto-created is not claimed. Starting Oct 1, 2026, Treasury auto-created roughly 70 million Trump Accounts for eligible children (announced at the Oct 7 White House event). But until a parent or guardian claims it, you can't control the account — and the $1,000 federal seed won't be deposited.
What claiming unlocks
- ✓Full parental control of the account in your child's name
- ✓Eligibility for the $1,000 federal seed (U.S.-citizen births 2025–2028, elected via IRS Form 4547)
- ✓Ability to receive family, employer, and philanthropic contributions (e.g. the Dell $250)
The claim steps
-
Get the official Trump Accounts app
Claiming happens through the official Trump Accounts app/portal — not by email, text, or a third-party site. Only download it via links you verify yourself at treasury.gov or irs.gov. How to spot fakes →
-
Verify your identity — and your relationship to the child
You'll prove who you are and that you're the child's parent or legal guardian. Have your ID and the child's Social Security number ready.
-
Review your child's information
Check that the auto-created account details (name, birth date, SSN) match your child before proceeding.
-
Accept the account terms
Review and accept the custodial terms. From this point, you're the account's responsible adult until the child reaches 18.
-
Elect the $1,000 seed (if eligible)
For U.S.-citizen children born 2025–2028, a parent/guardian makes the election for the federal seed deposit via IRS Form 4547. Full walkthrough →
⚠ Claim promptly — and only through official channels
- Only a verified parent or guardian can complete the claim. Don't share your child's SSN with anyone offering to "claim it for you."
- There is no fee to claim, and no 24-hour deadline — urgent messages saying otherwise are scams. Full scam guide →
- The official claim deadline (if any) has not been published — TBD. We'll update this page when it is.
